What to expect

Is this your first massage?
How does it all work?

   The GYMDAY experience

Prior to appointment

You will need to complete an online consultation form to ensure it is safe to carry out a treatment. This will be sent via email following your booking.

A member of our team may contact you via email or telephone to discuss your reason for treatment & to gain more insight into your condition or dysfunction.

On the day

  • Stay hydrated throughout the day of your appointment to help with treatment outcomes.

  • Don't eat a heavy meal 3 hours prior to treatment.

  • Wear comfortable clothes to the appointment (ladies if you are having a back massage, please wear a bikini or bra that can be loosened from the back- no sports bras) If you feel more comfortable in shorts, please wear them to the appointment or bring them with you.

  • Please let us know with as much notice as possible if you are unable to make the appointment.

Techniques used

Effleurage, petrisssage, muscle energy techniques, trigger point therapy, compressions, soft tissue release, connective tissue release, active and passive stretching, tapotement, rocking & other manual therapies as required.

Post treatment advise

  • Drink plenty of water for up to 24 hours prior to maximise treatment outcomes.

  • Contra-actions- It is normal to feel a little light headed, unwell, emotional or congested after massage due to nervous system responding to treatment.

  • Use of magnesium salts or creams, heat or cryotherapy may be recommended following treatment (not suitable for pregnancy clients)

  • You may feel a little sore for 48-72 hours following treatment as your muscles may have been worked intensely (similar to the feeling of a heavy workout).

Clothing may remain on for some techniques. However, where clothing removal is required- towel draping will be used to preserve client modesty.
